After diligently researching dozens of companies and teaching ourselves how to buy small businesses “the hard way” over the past two years, we have developed a blueprint to help others navigate the process with confidence.
Our mission is to be the mentors we wish we had, offering guidance and support to like-minded entrepreneurs. Together, we are building a network that shares invaluable learnings, deal flow, connections, and investment opportunities to fuel each other’s success.
Who Are We?
Hi there, we are Sarah and Matthew, two childhood friends who left our tech jobs in aerospace venture capital in search for deeper meaning, freedom, and control over our lives.
Even though our jobs were “sexy”, respected by our peers, and paid us well, we realized that ownership and equity were essential if we wanted true freedom. We began exploring what other paths were out there.
At the same, we also noticed the national trend happening - baby boomers were passing on ownership of their businesses to younger generations. After a little reflecting we determined it was a no brainer. We couldn’t miss out on the generational transfer of wealth happening.
We got to work and after two years and a ton of trial and error, we purchased our first small business in Aspen, CO.
The best part is that because of SBA loans and creative financing, we barely spent any of our own money.
And although we were able to successfully acquire our business, we learned so much along the way that would have made the entire process so much easier and enjoyable.
Next Gen Owner was born from asking ourselves “what did we really need?” Younger Sarah and Matthew needed three things: one-on-one coaching, connections to brokers, lawyers, bankers & lenders, operators, and investors, and a supportive community for networking.
We’ve been building a comprehensive system to provide all the above and much more to give other people the chance to change their lives.
